CASTAGNETO CARDUCCI

The historic village of Castagneto is located in the center of the Maremma Livornese a few km from its stretch of the Tyrrhenian coast known as the Etruscan Coast. In fact part of the area overlooks the sea: this is the resort Marina di Castagneto and Donoratico.

original core of the village are the castle and the Church of San Lorenzo. The latter is characterized by an impressive external stone staircase very scenic and the neo-medieval bell tower built in the '900 with the ruins of the castle of Donoratico. The village then developed around it is almost the same as that of today's streets, squares and streets. Much of the history of Castagneto Carducci is linked to the family of the counts Della Gherardesca who possessed these lands for a long time.

In recent years, the mild climate, the low traffic and the wide variety of routes attracted campaigns in Castagneto Carducci many cycling enthusiasts for both short trips and for real holidays in the saddle. The country is however not just a destination for cyclists, is visited by Italian and foreign tourists intrigued by the atmosphere of the medieval old town, the scents and aromas that come from the fields specially cultivated vineyards and olive groves. Oil and local wine are in fact produced much appreciated internationally. At Castagneto not even miss a tasty and aromatic inspired by the recipes of ancient Tuscan tradition and employing, in large part, their food locally.
